Join us for a night of eating and drinking like a Sendai local down the atmospheric back-alleys of Bunka-yokocho and Iroha-yokocho!

Undiscovered by most visitors to the city, a step down these alleyways is a step back in time to retro post-war Showa Era Japan. Follow your nose down the lines of hundreds of tiny izakayas (Japanese pubs). As most only sit around 8-10 customers at a time, it can be a little intimidating to enter on your own, but on this tour, you’ll be joined by a local guide! Let them introduce you to all the best places and help you navigate the language barrier as you eat, drink and chat to the friendly locals.

On this tour you’ll enjoy a drink of your choice and a plate of local food at three different styles of izakaya. Discover new favourites and learn to order like a pro!

※Due to the overcrowded nature of Izakayas on tours departing on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays, the number of Izakayas we visit will be reduced from 3 to 2. You will still be able to enjoy a total of 3 drinks and the volume/quality of food will be the same as if you were visiting 3 izakayas. Thank you for your understanding.

Your guide will be waiting for you in front of entrance of McDonald’s Sendai Aobadori. 1 minutes walk from Aobadori-ichibancho Station on the Tozai Subway line.

They will be holding the ‘Tour Name’ sign:

**The booking will be automatically cancelled if you do not arrive at the meeting point 30 minutes after the start time.**

After a quick introduction you will head towards the atmospheric alleyways of Bunka-yokocho and Iroha-yokocho.

Enjoy a walking tour through the alleyways, learning about the history of the area and keeping an eye out for some bars to return to later.

First izakaya! Enjoy your choice of drink and a plate of tasty local food!

19:00

Head to a different style of bar and enjoy a second drink and some more food!

Not sure what to order? Your guide will be there to give recommendations and teach you some useful words and tips for navigating your izakaya experience.

Last stop! Make it count – choose a different drink and pair it with something you’ve never tried before!
